Can the QUICKTEL X1 record video or audio?

Yes. The X1 can record videos and capture photos. An SD card is required for storage and must be purchased separately.

Do X1 devices connect via radio waves?

No, the X1 devices connect via WiFi or 4G/LTE, which makes them even better because you can communicate via Push-to-Talk (PTT) from virtually anywhere in the country. They also feature triple cellular carrier redundancy, automatically connecting to the strongest signal available among AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon — ensuring the most reliable coverage possible.

Do I need a SIM card or carrier plan?


No separate plan is required. Each X1 includes Free Unlimited Nationwide Coverage for the first year. After that, you can renew your service with plans as low as just $48 per year per radio — far less than any cell phone plan.

Does the X1 work without Wi-Fi?

Yes. The X1 connects using nationwide carrier networks (AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile) and automatically switches to Wi-Fi when available for extended range and redundancy.

What is the difference between X1 Core, X1 Plus, and X1 Trace models?

X1 Core – Ideal for families or teams that only need communication (no GPS or Command Center). Works right out of the box.
X1 Track – Adds On-Demand GPS tracking and Command Center access for location and fleet management.
X1 Trace – Designed for businesses needing full video streaming, real-Time GPS tracking, and multi-device control from a live dashboard.

Can I use an X1 Core, X1 Track, and X1 Trace together under the same account? Will they still be able to communicate with each other?

All X1 radios within the same account must be on the same plan to ensure
proper communication and functionality.

Since the X1 connects via 4G/LTE, can I use it internationally?

The X1 device is currently supported only within the United States. However, the QUICKTEL Command Center can be accessed and used anywhere in the world. You can still use PTT through the Command Center via your web browser on a computer or through the mobile app. X1 Tack and X1 Trace come with Command Center access.

Does the QUICKTEL X1 work with the QUICKTEL Commander?

Yes. The X1 works seamlessly with the QUICKTEL Command Center when using the X1 Track or X1 Trace plan. The X1 Core plan does not include Command Center access which is required for communication with Commander.

If I already have the QUICKTEL Commander and add X1 units, can I manage everything in one QUICKTEL Command Center?

Absolutely— as long as all devices are on the same QUICKTEL Account and have compatible plans. To connect your Commander with X1 units, you must choose either the X1 Track or Trace plan. The X1 Core plan does not include Command Center access, which is required for integration with the Commander.

Can I track my X1 through the QUICKTEL Command Center?

Yes. The X1 can be tracked through the Command Center as long as you have the appropriate plan. GPS tracking is available with the X1 Track plan (On-Demand GPS) and the X1 Trace plan (Real-Time GPS).

Can the QUICKTEL X1 send text messages?

No. The X1 is designed strictly for voice communication through PTT functionality. If you need texting or advanced messaging features, we recommend upgrading to the QUICKTEL Commander.

How many PTT channels does the QUICKTEL X1 have?

Is there a POV headset available for the QUICKTEL X1?

Not at this time. For POV (point-of-view) recording purposes, we recommend our QUICKTEL Commander device.

Since the X1 is a touchscreen device, can I still use it if the touchscreen stops working?

Yes. The physical buttons on the X1 allow you to navigate key features and continue using essential functions even if the touchscreen becomes unresponsive.
